This months playful picks is all about getting that sweat on! We all know routine is good for us, but I also think so is breaking it! I enjoy mixing up my exercise, I know the activities I enjoy and the ones I have to get through for the health hoops and I do find novelty, equipment I love and trying new things helps keep it fresh. So hopefully this might give you some ideas for keeping it playfully sweaty :)
This whole range from IKEA is worth a look but this mat is pick of the range for me because of it’s size and shape, the sort of mat you can’t help but just start moving around and trying things out on.
Whilst we’re at IKEA, this bench is brilliant for lots of things - great for kids obstacle courses, has storage and can be incorporated in loads of different workouts. Really like the design.
I have one of these and I use it a lot. It can be incorporated into any aerobic workout to add some light weight (its 6.8kgs). It’s a very satisfying shape to work with and easy to store. I always feel quite joyful when I see it out on the mat!
Another one from my collection. I love this hoop, it’s cheap, sturdy and large. It’s 1.8kg and is easy to learn with. I think hooping really helped repair my core after having 3 kids, I always feel more zipped up when I’m doing it regularly!
I think these bands are one of the best fitness innovations ever! They’re easy to travel with, can use at home, can do loads with them and for a bonus perk if you have a few you can collect the different colours which is not the intention, but still I appreciate it! Decathlon is a great place to stock up on these kinds of things, very good vfm considering how much you can do with them.
You may have seen on IG we have one of these. I show it a lot because we’re always on it! It’s such a great way to work out, you can use it to do the bars which is great for body strength and also as a base to add resistance bands / trx. It’s a versatile piece and I can imagine us having it even when the kids have moved out!
We’ve run out of space outside for a large trampoline, but I have been considering one of these indoor rebounders to add to my home workouts. I need to do a lot of balance work to make my ankles stronger after a history of injuries and I think doing squats etc on this would be a good addition.
I’ve not taken the plunge yet to buy one of these as tend to do my cold water dips in the ocean, but do love the idea of having one ready to go in the garden and I’m sure I’ll join the cult soon enough!
Skipping is so knackering! I used to do it a lot when I did a lot of boxing and always felt the fittest when my skipping was on point. I’ve been trying to get it back a bit more into my routine and love these fun ropes from Dope Ropes.
I am working on my glutes a lot this year (trying to go from pancake to belgium bun, lol). I swim a lot but can get stuck in the same old routine so am trying to make up more drills in my pool time. Love these floats by small brand Scorpia for a bit of style whilst doing so!
I went to test drive one of these the other day and can’t stop thinking about it! I’m really thinking about if I could swap my car for one of them, trying to do the mum-maths on the reality of that (!) It was a stunning bike and so fun to ride and you can put another person on the back or remove the rear seat and put on a child seat for younger child. I’d love to take Scout on some adventures on one of these!
Still wondering if I could do the work I do whilst walking but if I could I would like to! I think these are such a good idea. I sit down for work far too much and find it hard to get around it as there’s a lot of writing and concentrating!
And finally, I love this set. Probably won’t actually be working out in it, but still, mindset right?
That bench is great. Not sure how I didn’t know about it before but thank you for bringing it to my attention. I keep getting (very fancy) £1k versions following me around around Instagram and this will do perfectly 💪🏻
Love the cute workout outfit. I’ve been meaning to get a walking pad too! Update us if you do!
I just got the volleyball and double Dutch jump rope in the mail today from Amazon. The kids and I are already breaking them in! Love these posts! Great ideas and inspo ☺️
